Yakiniku

Yakiniku 焼肉(やきにく) = BBQ in Japan. Place you can enjoy Grilled Marbled Wagyu You grill your own food, dip in the sauce, eat with rice. It’s one of my favorite Japanese cuisines.

Introduced by a Korean guy called 林光植 in a shop called 食道園 in Osaka in 1941. At that time, Japan just finished WW2, the ingredients are very limited. He started with 冷麺, chicken and pork. He also sold parts of food people throw away like: Liver, omasum, and Rumen.1 The shop was called "朝鮮料理", the name contains discrimination during that time.

(Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea) fixed the naming issue by directly translating the name from プルコギ (Bulgogi) into 焼肉.
