I’m new to GitLab. Some feedbacks regarding to UI. I’m not a designer just my feedbacks.
GitLab’s UI has many things that competing for my attentions at first glance. The next badge. Many usage of bold fonts on not important things (subjective).
After we collapsed the sidebars (one collapse is bottom left, one is top right)
GitHub’s PR page is a bit simpler but the right meta stuff sidebar is there.
When we scroll down, GitLab’s top navbar stays:
GitHub’s top navbar hides so I can focus on reading the body:
If we keep scrolling and it reminds you which PR you’re looking at (:relaxed:):
But Gitlab’s comment section are slightly less distractive (still has both sidebar on left and right, but it’s out of focus center area)
GitHub has a nice community guideline reminder, but the irrelevant protip and inevitable footer links.
